Licensed Clinical Marriage & Family Therapist in Kansas | Licensed Marital & Family Therapist in Missouri

I have over 25 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to helping people strengthen attachment bonds, heal relational wounds, and create more secure, connected relationships.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from William Jewell College and my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University. Additionally, I became certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps individuals, couples, and families build secure, lasting connections.

Over the course of my career I have worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health centers, grief and loss facilities, and private practice, providing support to a diverse range of clients. My training and experience allow me to guide clients in healing relational patterns, fostering emotional safety, and strengthening meaningful connections. I am committed to ongoing professional development and stay current with the latest research in attachment theory, neuroscience, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Professional Background

Over the past two and a half decades, I have had the privilege of walking alongside clients through life transitions, healing from trauma, relationship repair, parenting challenges, and personal growth. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and structured—balancing depth with practical tools for change. I am continually inspired by the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of secure connection. My goal is to create a therapeutic space where clients feel supported, empowered, and capable of building stronger, more fulfilling relationships.

As a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist, my work is grounded in attachment and client-centered modalities and is informed by a strong foundation in family systems theory. I believe that our relationships shape how we experience ourselves and the world, and that meaningful change happens when we feel emotionally safe, seen, and understood. Whether working with individuals exploring relational wounds and attachment patterns, couples caught in painful cycles, or families navigating distress, I focus on identifying the underlying emotional needs that drive behavior and guiding clients toward new, corrective emotional experiences.

Therapeutic Approach

Emotionally Focused Therapy is about slowing down reactive patterns of conflict and access the more vulnerable undercurrents of longings and needs that usually stay hidden to finally be seen and held. This experiential shift allows you to move from a place of defensive disconnection or angry protest to a place of security, a felt sense of bondedness, and a real transformation in how you relate to yourself and those that matter most. EFT is a structured model of therapy with three stages: 1. De-escalating the conflict, 2. Restructuring the Bond and 3. Consolidating stages 1 & 2.
